The description we were given however misrepresented the trip. The first camp site in Uluru is not out on its own and is noisy. The accommodation in both camp sites is extremely basic, mattresses on bunk beds somewhat stained and we were given very tired linen to make up our bed. The large wash room block at Uluru was a 10 minute walk away. The “signature endless star dining experience “ was kangaroo bolognese pasta served on well worn plastic plates which were actually difficult to see as the table at which we all sat was poorly lit. Tasty but this was definitely not one might have been led to expect from the description.

The truck we were in was old noisy and tatty. The air conditioner did not work well. Our guide and driver was up every morning at 4 am, in charge of driving long distances cooking and guiding the long walks. She coped very well but did look tired on the drives at times - surely unsafe?

We are both fairly fit 60year olds and did the Red Centre Goanna Dreaming - Starting from Ayers Rock and ending 3 days later at Alice Springs.

Food wise, I was happy. We had pancakes, cereals, toast and yoghurt for breakfast. Lunch we had picnic lunches consisting of wraps and burgers. For dinner we had salads, meat/vegetarian variations cooked on the BBQ, stir fry vegetables, fruit and chocolate. Drinks wise there was tea, coffee, fruit juice and I spied some cordial.

My husband Peter & I recently went on the 5 day kangaroo safari around Uluru, Olga's & King's Canyon. It was spectacular, we had a ball! Great traveling companions despite being the only Aussies! The food was really lovely thanks to Deon's culinary expertise. To whip up a decent meal on a campfire after hours of driving & guiding was quite impressive! It may not have been the cleanest or overly organised but everybody was well catered for under the circumstances. After all it is bush camping in the red dust which adds to the unique experience. Perhaps also as feedback, general maintainance to the bus (eg audio for commentary) & the permanent tents really needs addressing though.

Day two was my favourite - Yellow Waters Cruise for crocodile and birdlife spotting followed by sunset at Ubirr.

This is my style of glamping. The permanent tents and shower/toilet blocks were clean and bug free at both of the camping sites we stayed at. At both camping/campervan/lodge sites we had access to the pool/bar/restaurants. Breakfast and dinner was prepared in permanent tents, one had table and chairs situated inside the tent.

What a tour!!!!! Troy was the best, lots of knowlege and an amazing guide. He let us to some beautiful places, some where very remote. Both the campsites and the food where way above my expectation as well

Highlights were the stunning views, hikes, yummy food, bubbles at sunset, working together as a team & sleeping (not) in the swags! Initially apprehensive, we are so glad we did it. Was better than we expected and will remember it for a long time.

Breakfasts are very basic, lunches prepared by the guests. Washing up hygiene not great.

One can not “experience the changing colours of the sunset away from the crowds” in fact as all the large tour busses group in the same place - so why say that?

I must also mention Brandon 'minion' (in training) who did a great job & rose to the occasion when challenges presented. A nice, genuine bloke!

Essentially this trip has a good itinerary and can be a lot of fun but you need to know what you are letting yourself in for. More information about how very basic the facilities are, the experience is more like a communal backpackers camping experience.
